FAQ's

  • What is a QR code?
A QR code (an initialism for quick response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) invented in 1994 by the Japanese automotive company Denso Wave. A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that can contain information about the item to which it is attached. In practice, QR codes often contain data for a locator, identifier, or tracker that points to a website or application. QR codes use four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to store data efficiently; extensions may also be used.

The Quick Response system became popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. Applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, and general marketing.

A QR code consists of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, including some fiducial markers, which can be read by an imaging device such as a camera, and processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately interpreted. The required data is then extracted from patterns that are present in both horizontal and vertical components of the image.
  • What is a Static QR code?
Static QR Codes cannot be edited once created, are not traceable, and cannot be used for online retargeting. These are static and permanent and will work as long as the URL that you provide works. These are, for example, email and text Codes, which don't gather any tracking metrics.
  • When to use static QR Codes?
    Personal use
You can use static QR Codes for personal use if you don't need to edit the QR Code content and track campaign metrics.

    One-off marketing campaigns
They are ideal for providing detailed information at one-time events and one-off marketing campaigns. The stored data cannot be changed, and you have to recreate a new QR Code to change the information.
  • What is a Dynamic QR code?
A Dynamic QR codes has a short URL embedded in the code, which can redirect the user to the destination website URL. The destination URL can be changed after the QR code has been generated, while the short URL embedded in the code remains the same.

Dynamic QR codes are easier to scan than Static QR Codes because the QR code image is less dense. Unlike Static QR Codes, you can protect a Dynamic QR code with a password, find out how many people scanned your code, or track what type of devices scanned it. Both the type of QR Code and the content are editable as many times as needed. They use a short URL to send users to the landing page of your desire as well as monitor statistics for information such as the number of scans, location and operating system used.
  • Converting from a static to a dynamic QR code?
No, once you select and make a static QR we cannot change it to a Dynamic QR code. Static and dynamic QR codes are two different QR code types.
  • QR code is not working?
There are many reasons why a QR code is not working correctly. First check your entered data. Sometimes there are little typos in your URL that break your QR code. Make sure that there is enough contrast between the background and foreground of the QR code. The foreground should always be darker than the background.
  • Best format for the logo of the QR code?
You can add a logo to your QR code; however it is important that your logo is in a square format otherwise it might look stretched. It is also important to note whether you upload your logo in JPEG or PNG format. It is recommended to have a logo around 500KB to 1 MB.
  • What is the difference between a PNG and SVG file?
A SVG file is a vector type file that can be used in programs as Illustrator or InDesign. For Photoshop you need to import your SVG file. A SVG file is great for printing at the highest quality. A PNG is a format to use online but can also be printed although a PNG has less quality than a SVG.
  • What is a good QR code scanner?
All iPhones with iOS 11 and above can recognize QR codes using the camera feature in photo mode. This is the same for all new Android devices. Otherwise you can use free QR code scanner app without ads.
